Tai Chi
Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention is an evidence-based physical activity program that helps reduce the risk of falls and injury in older adults. This simplified Sun Style Tai Chi form, as adapted by Dr. Paul Lam from the Tai Chi for Health Institute, is specifically designed for older adult; it helps to improve the individual's balance, mobility, and strength. Classes are held twice a week for six weeks by certified Tai Chi trainers.
Dr. Paul Lam, a family physician in Sydney, Australia, has been a passionate teacher and leader in the field of Tai Chi for health improvement since 1976. In 1998, he worked with a team of Tai Chi and medical specialists to create the Tai Chi for Arthritis program, and since then, created more Tai Chi for Health programs that have helped millions of people worldwide. The programs are supported by health foundations and associations around the world, including the Arthritis Foundations of America, Australia, and Singapore, and medical studies have shown these programs are effective in improving individuals' health and quality of life. Together with his master trainers, Dr. Lam has conducted hundreds of workshops to teach Tai Chi for Health programs worldwide.
